Renata Martinčić was born in Rijeka. She finished elementary and high school on the island of Krk. She studied at the University of Trieste (Italy) where she received a Master's degree in Psychology and a PhD in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (Department of Life Sciences). Through her work and professional practice, she gained various experiences in the field of developmental psychology (Kindergarten Medulin, Croatia; Health institution Distretto Sanitario n.1, Trieste, Italy) where she worked with children of typical development and with children with developmental disorders (especially autism spectrum disorder) and neurorisk children. She has experience working with children with learning disorders, behavioral problems and selective mutism (primary school in Italian language, Pier Paolo Vergerio, Koper, Slovenia). She worked in the field of rehabilitation medicine (clinical and neuropsychology, professional practice at the Hospital Ospedale Maggiore, Trieste). She participated in a project on the importance of reading aloud (Leggere: Forte!) in the field of experimental pedagogy (University of Perugia and Tuscany Region, Italy). During her studies, she worked with children in various elementary schools in Trieste, taught and translated foreign languages and learned various foreign languages herself. She has participated twice in the Bovec Summer School (Slovenia) where the languages and culture of the Alps-Adria regions are taught.
She currently works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University Juraj Dobrila of Pula, in the field of social sciences, teaching in Italian and Croatian.
