Luka Pongračić, a student from the first cohort of the New Educational Paradigms doctoral program at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The dissertation, titled "The Success of Developing Social Competences and Self-Perception of Typically Developing Students during Subject-Based Teaching in Elementary School Classrooms with Students with Disabilities," was written under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Aldo Špelić, PhD, from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, and co-mentorship of Professor Jurka Lepičnik Vodopivec, PhD, from the Faculty of Education, University of Primorska, Koper (Slovenia).
Based on the results of his research, dr. Luka Pongračić developed a proposed model for preparing typically developing students to successfully face the challenges posed by peers with disabilities during early adolescent development in inclusive classrooms, promoting the formation of friendships and significantly enhancing the success of educational inclusion models.
