Within the framework of the international scientific research project Neurocognitive Abilities and Early Bilingual Development: Language Exposure and Executive Functions (NeuroLEEF), from the 27th to the 30th April 2026 a field research was conducted in Rome. The research was carried out as part of the activities of the Research Centre for the Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of Istria at the Faculty of Humanities of the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula and involved students from the Istituto comprensivo Munari di Roma (IC Bruno Munari, Cardinal Massaia/Walt Disney branch – primary school; IC Bruno Munari, Pietro Verri branch – lower secondary school). The testing was carried out by Dr. Renata Martinčić Marić from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nada Poropat Jeletić from the Faculty of Humanities and Giorgia Mazzetti, a student from Università degli Studi Roma Tre, who had previously completed an Erasmus+ mobility period at the Department of Italian Studies.

During the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, associate professor dr. Vida Manfreda Kolar from the Faculty of Education of the University of Ljubljana will be staying at our faculty as part of the Erasmus+ teaching staff mobility programme. Within the course Mathematics Teaching Methods I, prof. Manfreda Kolar held an interactive lecture for 3 rd year students titled Types of Knowledge in Mathematics - Gagné's Classification of Knowledge. The lecture was stimulating and dynamic, with active participation of the students who, through discussion and problem solving, analysed different levels of knowledge - from basic and procedural to conceptual and problem-based. The importance of recognizing conceptual errors in pupils and designing tasks that go beyond routine solving was emphasized. Through concrete examples, it was shown how tasks can be transformed from procedural to conceptual and problem-based, which encourages the development of mathematical thinking, connections and reasoning.
A week earlier, as part of the courses Mathematics Teaching Methods I and II, prof. Manfreda Kolar held a workshop for 3 rd and 4 th year students dedicated to teaching aids and tools in mathematics teaching. Through activities such as working with pentominoes and mathematical games (detective, ladder), the students explored the possibilities of their application in elementary mathematics teaching. We are especially pleased that the students successfully applied new ideas and presented them at 2 nd Mathematics Street Festival.

On Sunday, 26 April, 2026, the hall of the taekwondo club Dubrava in Zagreb was the centre of student taekwondo where the UniSportHR Taekwondo national finals in fighting and poomsae disciplines were held. The Juraj Dobrila University of Pula was represented by Ines Mikšić, a first-year student of the university's undergraduate study Early and Preschool Education. Spectators had the opportunity to enjoy top-notch performances from precise and technically demanding poomsae forms to dynamic and combative matches in different weight categories. After three rounds of competition, her technical precision, concentration and excellent execution of forms led Ines to the title of university champion in the SB-1 discipline, confirming her quality work and progress. In addition to her individual success, Ines also brought the University a notable team result with her performance, winning third place in the overall standings behind students from the Universities of Zagreb and Split, further confirming the competitiveness of the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula on the national student sports scene. This success is yet another in a series of indicators of the importance of investing in sports and encouraging students to actively participate, thereby promoting excellence, discipline and team spirit.
